Rebozo is declared as Mexican cultural heritage and a symbol of Mexican identity. While its use was fading in some city cultures, there has been a strong movement within Mexico to reclaim it. If you step just outside Mexico City, especially into rural areas, you’ll see that the rebozo never disappeared and is strongly alive.
When you purchase this rebozo, you’re choosing one that is ethically produced, with 10% of profits supporting life in rural Mexican communities and local projects. This work by the supplier is part of manifesting a vision of wellbeing in rural Mexico. Wellbeing in these communities is deeply connected to traditional midwives, who are at the top of the list of people supported. It is an action of solidarity towards traditional midwives, wisdom keepers and local communities.
Your purchase also helps sustain hundreds of local families who have preserved the skills of weaving and natural dyeing for generations. These artisans carry knowledge passed down through their lineage for generations.
You’ll also find these are among the first custom-made rebozos designed especially for tall people ♡
This original rebozo has been specially woven for our Doula Conference in rich Autumn tones. With limited numbers available, each piece is both authentic and unique.
Whether you’re carrying your baby, wrapping your womb through pregnancy, postpartum or menstruation, using it for sifting and massage during labour, using it in prayer or simply wearing it as a shawl, you can be assured that 'you and this magical shawl are a match made in heaven!'
