This presentation will discuss the importance of providing care that optimises women’s innate physiological processes, including for women with complications and risk factors.

​About Dr Deborah Fox RM, B Mid, M Sc, PhD

Deborah Fox is Senior Lecturer in Midwifery, Coordinator of the Bachelor of Midwifery degree and a core member of the Centre for Midwifery, Child and Family Health at the University of Technology Sydney. She is an Associate Editor of the Elsevier journal 'Midwifery' and supervises Masters and PhD research students in midwifery and public health. The focus of her research is optimising physiological processes and positive birth outcomes for women with complex pregnancies. Currently, this work involves the implementation of innovative, non-invasive beltless and wireless fetal monitoring technologies into midwifery practice, to enable women with complexities greater choice and control in pregnancy and birth. Currently a member of the ACM NSW Branch Committee, she also chairs the National Publicly Funded Homebirth Consortium based at UTS.
